There has been a ton of talk about the new/updated review filter that Google+ Local has. We decided to take a look at the massive thread going on where business owners are posting that they have lost reviews. In this thread, there seems to be a pattern of certain industries being more affected than others. So far, on the thread there have been 18 auto dealers/auto repair companies that have reported lost reviews. There also has been 15 dentists, 8 lawyers, and 7 internet marketing/web design companies. Other industries that also seem to be affected more are insurance agents and possibly photographers. Here is a full list of how many business types have posted so far that they have lost reviews:

In the past, I know locksmiths (as an industry) were more likely to have their listings reviewed because the industry was tarnished with a bad reputation of keyword stuffing and spamming on Google. I’m wondering now with the review filter if some of these other industries have earned a bad reputation for review practices. Mike Blumenthal has already stated that car dealerships are known to have more spammy reviews. It’s possible that some of the other industries mentioned are also experiencing a higher loss of reviews as well.
